The conference venue is the Egyptian and Near Eastern Department of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien at Maria Theresien-Platz in 1010 Vienna.
This building is located in the centre of Vienna near the Hofburg Palace. It can be reached by various means of the public tranportation system: underground U2 or the street-car lines 1 and 2. For detailed information regarding your personal itinerary, please consult the pages of the Wiener Linien. The map below provides an overview of the geographical location.
The Egyptian and Near Eastern Department of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien is one of the most important collections of Egyptian antiquities in the whole world. This large collection with its showrooms decorated with Egyptianizing wallpaper – produced originally for the World Exposition 1892 – and Egyptian columns, re-used in the room's architecture, is in itself a striking example of the cultural reception of Ancient Egypt in Europe.
